Happy birthday, Dad

This week, I have SOOOO many birthdays coming up - I'm surrounded by Geminis!  My Dad's birthday is on Monday, so our family is getting together tomorrow to celebrate his birthday, as well as the birthdays of Lauren (10 year old niece) and Samantha (6 year old niece).  I've already posted the girls' cards on my blog AGES ago, but I've just made Dad's today - here 'tis :)

Sorry for the fuzzy photos - it is very grey and overcast today, so lighting is not so good.  Melbourne had it's coldest May day in 17 years yesterday - and today's not much warmer - we got to a grand total of 10 degrees C yesterday (felt like 1 degree with the wind chill factor), and it was a very wet, windy, miserable day :(  But, it was the last day of teaching for semester 1 at the Uni, so I will have some time for cardmaking instead of marking pracs and assignments for a few weeks! Hooray!
My inspiration for this card was a card that won the CASual Fridays challenge last week, by Pamela - you can see her fantastic card HERE.  Her card used numbers, but I went with letters - it was fantastic timing, as my order from Simon Says Stamp arrived in the mail this week, with my new Die-namics "By the Letters" die set :)
The paper behind the die cut "dad" is from a Basic Grey paper pad called "Lime Rickey" - you can't really see much of the pattern, though - it's one of those mostly plain, but slightly distressed papers that Basic Grey includes in most of their paper packs.  Will be submitting this to CASual Fridays challenge - which is a bit odd, seeing as my card is a CASE of last week's winner!

Have a great day :)
