Online card class day 2

Jennifer McGuire showed a technique in the Online Card Class today that I used on a card on Monday - inlaid wood veneer.  Basically, die-cut shapes from wood veneer, colour some of them, then put the pieces back together again.  She took it a step further by having the die-cut pieces layered. I thought I'd try the layering, but use glitter paper, as I did a wood veneer card on Monday.  I don't have a huge variety of Christmassy die cuts, so I went with one that I do have, Memory Box Swirl Ornament.

DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!!
OMG, this was so fiddly!  Not the kind of stuff I really like doing often!  I started with a plain sheet of Stampin' Up Glimmer paper, die cut the 2 shapes from it (the front one first), then pulled all the pieces out, coloured them with Copics, and the reassembled the whole piece onto a card front that I'd covered with ATG adhesive (nice and strong adhesive).   I added some more Copic colour to add some dimension and shadows. I then die cut a banner (SSS tilted banner) from black card, stamped and white embossed "Merry Christmas" from SSS Small folded banners (which required some fiddly mounting of the stamp onto an acrylic block, because that stamp is meant to go on a different shaped banner!).  I mounted the banner using pop-up glue dots (the huge ones), because foam adhesive doesn't stick well to the glitter paper. I added a thin black border around the edge, and black Copic dots for the baubles to hang from.

Here's the result:
It looks much more sparkly and less grey in real life.

Do you SEEEE all those Teeny Tiny Pieces!!  Aaaaarrrggghhhh!!

It turned out well, but I will NOT be making another one of these any time soon! LOL!

Have a great day - I'm off to do more exam marking :(

  2. Wow...... you were keen! Looks amazing but I can only imagine it was one of those moments where you get part way into it and think - why did I ever start this? The result is well worth it even if you don't plan to do it again in a hurry.
