CASEing a superstar - Laura Bassen

This week, I am celebrating my 1000th post to this blog!  YAY!

I'm celebrating in two ways - firstly, I'm CASEing some of my all-time favourite cards this week - ones that I have pinned on Pinterest.  These are from some of my favourite card-making superstars.  Today's CASE is of a card by Laura Bassen!

Here's the card I CASEd:

I actually made two cards based on Laura's card - but the first one I made, I felt was more of a copy than a CASE.  I still like it, though, so here it is!

Here's the second way I'm celebrating - a giveaway :)

I have a bag full of goodies, including things from Hero Arts, Simon Says Stamp, Kaisercraft, Stickles, Basic Grey, My Minds Eye, The Twinery, Imaginisce, Pebbles, Prima, Uniball, Kuretake, and a couple of other goodies thrown in for good measure!
All you need to do for a chance to win this giveaway is fill in the Rafflecopter thingamajig below.  There are multiple ways to enter, and each one gives you an entry (or more than one)! I will announce the winner sometime in the week following the close of the Rafflecopter - you have until Friday, 14th August at 2pm AEST (that's 12am EST for my friends in the US and Canada, or 4am GMT for UK and European peeps.)

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!

Now, if you know anything about Jennifer McGuire, you know that she is one of the sweetest and most generous ladies there is.  So when I asked her whether she was OK with me posting a photo of her card here on my blog, not only did she say she was honoured (and my jaw dropped), but she also offered an extra giveaway for my blog event - free registration to the latest Online Card Class - Background Check! Can you IMAGINE how excited I am by this - I have taken part in every single Online Card Class since they began, and I've loved every single one! So, to win a spot in this awesome card class (this is the third one I'm giving away!), all you need to do is comment on this post, telling me your favourite cardmaking style - is it CAS (like me?) Or many layers? Or artsy? Or graphic? Or something else?

Many thanks to Laura Bassen for being such an awesome cardmaker and video-maker (I always get a laugh from her voiceovers!) and to Christine Drogt at Create a Smile and Jennifer McGuire at Online Card Classes for their generous sponsorship!

  2. Lovely cards and I like
    to make cards that have

    as embellishments.

  4. Another couple of beautiful cards, love them both. My favourite style I dont know yet think I am still too new to the whole thing to know yet. I like it bright, normally one extra layer as I like to colour and paint and need to trim once done.

  5. I like many CSA cards, but not the extreme ones :) I also like cute, artsy and elegant cards, but vintage and shabby chic don't go well with me. Love your kind of CAS by the way ;)

    1. I'm the same - every so often, I try vintage, or shabby chic, and I tend to fail miserably. I always come back to CAS :D

    1. Hi, Denise - the flower in the first card is from Stampin' Up, but I think it is discontinued, I hate to tell you :(

    2. It is gorgeous! I'll see if I can find out the set it's in. Sometimes I can find someone who is willing to sell those discontinued sets. Thanks for your response!

  7. Oh how lovely! I am going to try CASing that, too! I love making layered and frilly feminine cards. Or funny cards. Or artsy cards/multi-media... basically whatever the whim moves me to make! : )

    1. I love that you make lots of different styles - I try not to stick to one style too much, too, but I think I always revert to CAS!

  12. Ok, so I'm all caught up with the days I missed and the rafflecopter says I can comment again. I just want to let you know, as I went back through all that I've bookmarked several to revisit and CASE some day. As slow as I am, it'll be a while, but top on my list is that negative butterfly you inked on July 30! Fab!! Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. You know, I still have the positive of that butterfly sitting on my desk - haven't come up with a card idea for it yet, but it will eventually appear on a card! Thanks for your comments :)
