Color Burst panel

Hello!  I have a card today that is NOT one of my Challenge me a Christmas Card cards! I just needed more Christmas cards, and decided to make some.
I think this combination of gold and purple/pink looks quite regal - what do you think?
I'll be sharing this card at Time Out challenge, where the theme is Christmas with an optional twist of glitter or shimmer.
Thanks for visiting :)

Challenge me a Christmas Card 14

Welcome back to episode 14 of Challenge me a Christmas Card! Most of these challenges are to use a product, or incorporate a theme - but my friend Anne-Marie challenged me to CASE a particular card - one made by the amazing Debby Hughes of Lime Doodle Design.  You can find her card HERE, but here's my CASE.

I used a bunch of images from Lawn Fawn's "Pa-Rum-Pa-Pum-um" set, and coloured them with my Faber Castell watercolour pencils, before painting over with water to give a messy watercolour look.  I then wanted a sentiment that was red (like Debby's), but I wanted something a bit different, so I die-cut the PTI Merry in Stampin' Up glimmer paper and then stamped the matching "& bright" onto vellum, before adhering it all onto a top folding white card base.

I will be sharing this project at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - the theme is Christmas to die for (ie use die cuts)

Challenge me a Christmas Card 13

Welcome back to another challenge - today, I have a card using the colours in peacock feathers (as requested by my friend, Tamara), but unlike me, I didn't use the namesake Distress Ink!
I started with some watercolour cardstock, and I coloured it with Color Burst powders in Indigo and Turquoise. I used mainly water to mix the colours, but then some Perfect Pearls mixed with water to finish. When it was completely dry, I die-cut the "Kate" snowflake from Simon Says Stamp multiple times, being careful to keep every last little piece. I also cut three snowflakes from silver glitter paper.  Then the fun began (not) - trying to fit all those little pieces back in was tricky, to say the least!
I finished with a sentiment from Hero Arts stamped in Intense Black ink.
I will be sharing this project at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - the theme is Christmas to die for (ie use die cuts)

Challenge me a Christmas Card 12

Welcome back to my series, "Challenge me a Christmas card"!  I asked my friends, family, workmates, choirmates (anyone really) to set me a challenge for a Christmas card. It could be a colour, a theme, a subject, a technique, anything!

My choir mate, Denise, challenged me to use buttons on a Christmas card - done!

I will be sharing this project at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - the theme is Christmas to die for (ie use die cuts)

Challenge me a Christmas Card 11

Welcome back to my series, "Challenge me a Christmas card"!  I asked my friends, family, workmates, choirmates (anyone really) to set me a challenge for a Christmas card. It could be a colour, a theme, a subject, a technique, anything!
My cardmaking friend in Germany, Christine Drogt (owner of Create a Smile Stamps), challenged me to make a tag with silver embossing, and my workmate, Trisha, challenged me to use a non-traditional colour scheme (her suggestion was silver and purple). I went with a mash-up of both.
This one was quite hard to photograph - partly because of the glitter "merry", and partly because of the unusual dimensions - long and narrow.
I will be sharing this project at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - the theme is Christmas to die for (ie use die cuts)

Challenge me a Christmas Card 10

Welcome back to card number 10 of my Christmas series, Challenge me a Christmas Card. Today, I'm sharing a card I made using the last Christmas stamp I bought - I was challenged to do so by my crafty friend, Jenny Dix.  I actually used my last 2 stamp purchases on this card - both are from Simon Says Stamp.
This is one of those cards where the photo just doesn't do the card justice - this card is covered in shimmer and shine. All of the stamping (sentiment and snowflakes) are embossed with Judikins iridescent sparkle embossing powder, the whole card was sprayed with some Perfect Pearls mist, and then I added sequins just because. The shine makes photography quite difficult.
Also, I have found my true love - Altenew's "Glacier Caves" ink cube set - swoon!  These are MY blues!!
I'll be linking this card up at CAS Colours and Sketches challenge.

Thanks for visiting - there's still more cards to come in my series, so stay tuned!

Ombre happy birthday

I wanted to make a card other than a Christmas card (shock horror!) as people don't stop having birthdays just because Christmas is coming!
I used my favourite background stamp from Hero Arts/Basic Grey, "Flower dot pattern". I teamed it up with a word die from Mama Elephant, and the word "wishes" is from "Woodland wonders" from Avery Elle.
I actually CASEd myself for this card - I made a baby boy card using the same technique back in February last year for A Blog Named Hero - you can check that card out HERE. I used Distress Ink in Salty Ocean on that card, but on this one, I used the Glacier Caves set of blue inks from Altenew.
I'll be linking this card up at CAS Colours and Sketches challenge.

I'll also be sharing this at a challenge that is close to my heart, Addicted to CAS!

Challenge me a Christmas Card 9

Welcome back to my series, "Challenge me a Christmas card"!  I asked my friends, family, workmates, choirmates (anyone really) to set me a challenge for a Christmas card. It could be a colour, a theme, a subject, a technique, anything!
My workmate, Trisha (and my brother, Jim) challenged me to make a Christmas card with dinosaur.  Challenge accepted!

Now, before any scientist friends of mine point out that grass on this card is anachronistic (Apatosaurus lived in the Jurassic, and flowering plants, like grass, didn't appear until the Cretaceous), yes, I know.   Suck it up.
And also, in case you were wondering, that's not the Chicxulub meteorite.
It's Halley's comet. So there.

(yes, I am a big nerd.)
Thanks for visiting me for my "Challenge me a Christmas Card" series - I'll be back with another challenge card soon!

Challenge me a Christmas Card 8

Welcome back to another installment of Challenge me a Christmas card.  My choir buddy, Rachelle, challenged me to make a card with a nativity scene on it.  Now, this is more of a challenge than you might suspect.  I am not religious, so I don't have many overtly religious-themed stamps. Also, I don't have a printer to print out a nativity scene off my computer.  Therefore, this entire card is sans-stamps. All hand done. Which fits in with a challenge from another friend, who wanted a card with no stamps on it.
 Thanks for visiting :)

Challenge me a Christmas Card 7

Welcome back to my blog for Challenge me a Christmas Card!  I have a cute little CAS card for you today - using stamps from Avery Elle. My choir mate, Di, challenged me to make cards representing Christmas songs (she actually challenged me to do 12 songs of Christmas, but I chickened out!)  This one is, obviously, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!
Another friend suggested I make a card with female reindeer because they don't have antlers.  However, did you know that male reindeer shed their antlers by early December?  This means that Santa's reindeer must all be girls!

Thanks for visiting - come back soon for more Challenge me a Christmas Card fun!

Challenge me a Christmas Card 6

Welcome back to another Challenge me a Christmas Card post! The card today was made when my crafty friend and Stampin' Up superstar, Sue Madex, challenged me to use non-Christmas product.  I thought this stencil called Mini Doodle Bloom from The Crafters Workshop looked kind of poinsettia-esque, so I decided to use it.  Then my teammate on the A Blog Named Hero Facebook team, Cindy Chiu, challenged me to use orange.  Now, orange is great in a rainbow (all colours are great in a rainbow!! LOL!), but it is not my favourite colour. So I decided to use orange in an ombre from red to yellow.
I used Squeezed Lemonade, Dried Marigold and Abandoned Coral distress inks over the stencil, which I affixed over the card to match this week's challenge at CAS(e) this Sketch.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp.

I'll be sharing this card at CAS(e) this sketch #198, and at Addicted to CAS for their Ombre challenge.

Challenge me a Christmas Card 5

Welcome back to my Christmas card series, Challenge me a Christmas Card!

For today's card, I challenged myself to CASE a Christmas card I had pinned on Pinterest. The card I CASEd was made by Laura Bassen - you can check it out HERE.
I did quite a literal interpretation of Laura's card - same colours, same layout, same theme - just different stamps and dies.
I covered these Hero Arts poinsettias with a bunch of Perfect Pearls mist - they look a mess in this photo, but they have a lovely shimmery sheen to them in real life!
I'll be sharing this card over at Jingle Belles - their theme is "cards with flowers on them" and at The Flower Challenge - their theme is "A Special Occassion".
