Lacy stencil with some texture

I made this card today, using a couple of products I got in the mail earlier this week - the Lace stencil and the Shaded Lilac Distress Ink.  Two products both my Tim Holtz, but a card that is nothing like the style people usually associate with Tim Holtz!
I used Shaded Lilac and Picked Raspberry Distress Inks to colour some Wendy Vecchi embossing paste, and applied it over the Lace stencil, blending the colours a bit.  I added a sentiment from Hero Arts "Made With Love" and three stamped hearts (from a very old Stampin' Up set), then I finished with some stardust stickles.

Christmas elf tag

Just the other day, I received my order from Simon Says Stamp in the mail, with Hero Arts' "Santa's Elves Stamp & Cut" set - I interrupted my exam marking (350 down, 450 to go!) to  make this card:

The tag is from Kikki K, both the Copic coloured elf and "Tiny Star Background" are both from Hero Arts, and the sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp "Big Scripty Greetings Holiday".  I think these sentiments will be getting a lot of use in the coming weeks!

Christmas baubles

I made this Christmas card the other day - I used Stampin' Up stamps for the baubles, and a sentiment from Hero Arts.

I white heat-embossed the baubles, then painted on some Distress Inks over and around the baubles. I added a sentiment stamped in black, and drew in some white strings, then mounted the watercolour paper onto a red card base, and hand-drew some faux-stitching.  Done!

Sharing handmade kindness

Do you know Jennifer McGuire?  If you're into cardmaking and you don't, then you should! She is scarily talented and a fabulous teacher and a wonderful mother to her kids but, if that wasn't enough, she is the most generous crafty person I know. (And that's saying something, because crafty people are all kinds of awesome.)

Jennifer has just started a new venture called "Sharing Handmade Kindness".  The idea is to encourage fellow crafters to not just make crafty things, but to share them. That is, to use our creations to cheer someone's day.  Just because.

So, earlier this week, I sent off a few cards to some friends, and I also sent a pack of cards to the Caring Hearts Card Drive (run by Vera Yates and Jennifer McGuire - more info about this HERE).  But I wanted to make some new cards to send, not just cards from my stash. So here's a card I made today and that I intend to post tomorrow.
