Fusion #15
I just love the photo in this week's Fusion challenge - I picked out the script in the jug and the lovely pink flowers, and used them along with the sketch for my card:

More butterflies for CASe this sketch!
I seriously don't know what I would make if I didn't have these butterflies. I don't think I will ever be tired of using them.
Playing along with CAS(e) this Sketch and with Virginia's View Die Cut Challenge.

CASE study with Shari Carroll
I love Shari Carroll's cards. I have great difficulty making anything remotely like her cards, though - she always includes so much amazing detail, but makes it all look so complete and together. Usually, when I try to add too much detail, it looks like a hot mess! Anyway, Shari has made a beautiful card for this week's CASE Study challenge, so I thought I would challenge myself!
This card started as a mess, but I cut the patterned panel down to be less than half the card front, and it became a little less of a mess!
I started with white cardstock and painted it with a mixture of water and a Gelato (Butter Cream) from Faber Castell. I then affixed a stencil from Kaiser Craft and added some Wendi Vecchi embossing paste (some of which I'd mixed with some Snow Cone Gelato). Before I removed the stencil and before the paste dried, I stamped over the embossing paste with my Hero Arts "Friend Definition" stamp in Antique Linen Distress Ink. I then removed the die and, while the paste was still a bit wet, I stamped a little Hero Arts butterfly from Antique Flowers and Butterflies in Brushed Corduroy.
The rest of the card is fairly simple in comparison! LOL!
I affixed the die cut butterfly onto a die cut piece of acetate, so I will be submitting this to Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge.

Seeing as I used Gelatos, embossing paste, die cutting as well as stamps, a stencil and ink, I'll also be submitting this to The Mixed Media Challenge.

Partial diecutting
I'm just not sure about this card. I made it to join in with Virginia's View challenge (diecutting) - I partially die-cut the flowery vine so that I had a solid white piece on the left. I like this effect, but I think I might have to try again, but not ink the whole of the base card. What do you think?
I also used some (but not all) of the colours in this week's Curtain Call challenge.

Variation on a theme
I made a card for the lovely Kylie Purtell's birthday last week, and I liked it so much, I decided to try some different colours and different sentiments.
And here's a reminder of the one I made for Kylie:

A quick card
Just a quick post - made this card and thought it would fit the CAS on Sunday theme, "One Layer Wonder". All Stampin' Up stamps and inks, and Hero Arts Shadow inks.

Playing along with some challenges.
First, a disclaimer: I cut the index finger on my right hand last Thursday whilst washing up the food processor blades. I now have a finger with 4 stitches in it all wrapped up in bandages. Ouch. So if there are typos, it's because typing is slow and annoying, and if my card looks crap, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!! LOL!
I wanted to play along with a couple of challenges today. I saw the cool sketch at Iwona Palamountains "Sketchbook Saturday", and I also saw that Moxie Fab World has a "word die" challenge. I had to reverse Iwona's sketch to make it work with the word die I wanted to use - the "Thanks on a line" die from Simon Says Stamp (thanks, Linda Trace!). I then pulled out my brand new Derwent Inktense pencils (they were a birthday gift from my family - just arrived today!) and the first colour that drew my eye made me think of this week's KIS challenge - lots of turquoise! So, here's 'tis.
Of course, I had to add some Wink of Stella ;)
I'll also be submitting this to The Friday Mashup, where the theme is Watercolour and CAS.

Crafty fun with family
I had a crafty day with my sister and her two girls on Thursday. Jacqui (my sister), wanted me to come over and play with her Stampin' Up stamps and inks to see how we created with them differently. This is a very small selection of what we made. (sorry, some of the photos were taken on my sister's phone.)
This is one of mine - I think I may go back and colour in some of the flowers and leaves:
This is one of Jacqui's:
And here are two made by Lauren (who is 12) - she used a spirograph for one, and offcuts from my patterned paper box for the other
And, last but not least, this one was made by Caitlin, who is 9.
