Retro Sketches #99

I've been very lucky to be a guest with Retro Sketches throughout December and January - thanks so much to Arielle, Laurie and Kasia for giving me the opportunity to join them for the last 7 sketches!

The sketch below is based on a card I made (you can see it HERE).
The "hello" sentiment is from Papertrey Ink, and the heart stamp is from Neat and Tangled.  The patterned paper is from Basic Grey "kneehighs" 6x6 paper pad.

Thanks for visiting, and make sure you visit Retro Sketches and join in!

Retro Sketches time!

It's time for another Retro Sketches card - I'm playing along with Arielle, Kasia and Laurie and as a guest designer during January - here's my card, based on a sketch from a card by Laurie.
I used some absolutely beautiful Japanese paper on this card - I left the rest very simple to let the paper take centre stage. The sentiment is one of my very first stamp purchases - it's VERY old - from Artee Stamps - I thought the calligraphic font went well with the Japanese paper.

Retro Sketches #97

Playing along with Retro Sketches as their guest for January - I made a birthday card for my sister-in-law with this sketch.
I know, not my usual backdrop for card photos, but with all that white space, it looked quite odd with a white backdrop, so I went with something different.
I used Hero Arts Leafy Vines stamped onto some Hero Arts Hero Hues card (from a mixed set - blush) in Versamark, then clear embossed.  I used a Hero Arts/Sizzix butterfly die (from Antique Flowers and Butterflies) to cut a window, and stamped a sentiment from Avery Elle "Fanfare" in Hero Hues black and Stampin' Up's Stem Silhouettes (it's discontinued, sorry) in Soft Pink Shadow Ink inside the butterfly.  I added some strips of card coloured with HA Wet Cement shadow ink as a border, and some clear sequins and bling.

Retro Sketches back for January

Arielle and the girls at Retro Sketches have kindly extended their invitation to me to continue with them for January - they didn't have to ask me more than once!  I jumped at the chance!

Here's what I came up with for this week's sketch #96:

Retro Sketches again!

I'm playing along as a Headliner at Retro Sketches this month - hooray! My card today is based on a sketch from THIS CARD I made for a PaperCrafts publication call.  That card used some patterned paper and paper piecing, but I decided to use masking and stamping for this one, so it is a one layer card.

Here's my new take on the sketch:

I used Simon Says Stamp's "Lots of Dots" stamp set, and a sentiment from Hero Arts "Everyday Sayings".  I used a HEAP of different inks (17 colours in total, if you count the black!), mostly Hero Arts shadow inks (and Hero Hues black), but also some Stampin' Up inks, and a couple of Distress Inks.
