Case me a Christmas Card with Teresa Abajo

Welcome to Case me a Christmas Card for 2021 - a Christmas Card blog series!

From October to December, I will link to a series of guest cardmakers on my blog. I will CASE one of their cards, and they will CASE one of mine! CASE stands for either Copy And Share Everything, or Copy And Selectively Edit. It's about getting inspiration from cardmaking friends, but making a new card that is our own. And, of course, the card we each make has to be a Christmas card!

Background

In November 2016, I started this a little series on my blog. It started with me wanting to challenge myself to step outside my comfort zone with my Christmas cardmaking, so I asked friends to challenge me to do something different. 2016 challenges included using embroidery thread on a card, making a food themed card, making a geeky Christmas card (it had the Tardis on it) and making a dinosaur themed card.

In 2017, I asked some of my cardmaking friends to join me with these challenges. Then, in 2020, I changed things up a bit by asking each of my guests to CASE one of my cards and I would CASE one of theirs. Ardyth Percy Robb made a video in 2020 (linked here) of a 5 step process that I use all the time when I am making a CASE of anybody's card, so I encourage you to check out her video!

Today's guest

Today, my guest is Teresa Abajo. I have CASEd one of her cards that you can check out HERE

All of the products I used are linked below :)

And I made a video!

These are the cards I Cased:

Teresa also Cased one of my cards - you can find it HERE

Rainbow circles

I recently got my hands on some reactive inks from Hero Arts. I also realised I had a jar of Stickles glitter gel that I hadn't opened, so I decided to put them together.

I'll be sharing this card over at the Stay Crafty with Hero Challenge, which this week is Rainbow!

Monochrome for A Blog Named Hero

When I made this card, I had absolutely no ideas. I was on a Zoom call with some crafty friends in the USA, so I got them to choose some random numbers. I used one to choose the background stamp, one to choose the stamp and cut set, and one to choose the colour I used. This is what I came up with:

And, of course, because I cut the panel down, I got two cards for the price of one! YAY!

One layer leafy cards

One of my favourite ways to make a quick card is to use a stencil, a blender brush and a black sentiment. I added some stickles, too.

I used a stencil from Paper Rose Studio, and a sentiment from Papertrey Ink.

But I wasn't content with one!

Wonderful Day

I actually finished a bottle of Star Dust Stickles on this card!

I masked off a strip in the middle of the card, and then used a stencil from Paper Rose Studio to add Distress Oxide Inks in Blueprint Sketch and Salty Ocean. I stamped a sentiment (also form Paper Rose) and then added bucketloads of Stickles. (Don't worry, I got a new bottle in the mail the other day, so all is well!)

Funky leaves for Picket Fence Studios

I really, REALLY love the stencils from the February release at Picket Fence Studios!

I used the Funky Leaves Stencil with some Distress Oxide Inks and Life Changing Blender Brushes, softening the colours towards the bottom of the card. I stamped the sentiment from Fancy Sentiments in Picket Fence Black Hybrid Ink, then added Stickles over parts of the leaves to add some glittery goodness.

Simon Says Stamp Love You More

There's a new release at Simon Says Stamp going live TODAY! They were kind enough to send me some cards with pre-printed images - I took one of these and coloured it with a rainbow of Copic markers.

I then decided I needed some details on the hearts, so I added some stardust Stickles in either dots, outlines or stripes.
