Case me a Christmas Card with Jennifer Timko

Welcome to Case me a Christmas Card for 2020 - a slight variation on my annual Challenge me a Christmas Card blog series!

From October to December, I will link to a series of guest cardmakers on my blog. I will CASE one of their cards, and they will CASE one of mine! CASE stands for Copy And Share Everything - but it's not about just copying a card. It's about getting inspiration from cardmaking friends, but making a new card that is our own. And, of course, the card we each make has to be a Christmas card!

I used a very old background stamp from inkadinkado that is sadly discontinued, with a sentiment die from Paper Rose Studio.

This is the card I Cased: 

 Ardyth came up with a genius acronym to help you make a Case of a card without making a direct copy of it - LIMES. I am going to be using this acronym for all my Cases from now on: 

List:green-yellow ombre, white leafy image, die cut sentiment layered on black, sequins

Include: green, white leafy image

Modify: green-green ombre, green on green sentiment

Exclude: sequins, yellow

Spin: holly leave, perfect pearls on sentiment

I used a background stamp from Hero Arts, dies from Simon Says Stamp, and a sentiment strip from Paper Rose.

 This is the card I Cased:

List: Blue ombre, blue and white stamped and die cut image, pale green 

Include: ombre, embossing 

Modify:white embossing, blue-green ombre, white die cuts  

Exclude: blue stamped image 

Spin: Christmas, sequins

Release day at Picket Fence Studios

It's the 14th of the month, which means it's release day at Picket Fence Studios! Today, I'm sharing cards I made using some of the stencils in today's release. Just so you know, this release is full of Christmas and Halloween goodies, so be prepared for some festive fare! There's a list of all the new products at the bottom of this post.

For this card, I stamped part of the image from Baby it's Cold Outside, coloured it with Copic markers and then masked it. I then inked the sky using Distress Oxide inks, then added the Field of Snowy Trees Stencil and added Nuvo glimmer paste over three of the trees. I finished with some sequins and a sentiment from Inside Sentiments: Christmas.

For my 2nd card, I used the Brocade stencil.

I started with a panel of white cardstock and swiped it with Distress Oxide inkpads in a series of blues. I then added the Brocade stencil and sprayed over the top with Perfect Pearls in water. This made the ink oxidise and also added some gorgeous shine. I stamped the sentiment from Baby It's Cold Outside and added some Gin and Tonic mix sequins.

For my last card, I used The Flower of Life stencil.

I inked over the stencil selectively with blue and grey Distress Oxide inks using my Life Changing Blender Brushes. I used the small snowflake stamps to add a snowflake to the middle of the more heavily inked parts of the stencil, and embossed the smaller snowflakes with WOW embossing glitter. I added some sequins and a white embossed sentiment from Inside Quotes.

Seahorses from Simon Says Stamp

I have a third card to share with you using the Seahorse Background stamp from the latest release from Simon Says Stamp!

I stamped the seahorse background in my MISTI using Mermaid Lagoon and Cracked Pistachio Distress oxide inks in the bottom 2/3 of the stamp. I then cleaned the stamp, inked the whole thing with Versamark, stamped again over the top of the coloured stamping, then clear embossed. I then used ink blending tools to add colour over the top in the opposite direction to the stamped ombre (ie ink blending Mermaid lagoon over the versamark, ink blending cracked pistachio over the cracked pistachio, and then leaving the bottom third clear.

I added a die cut and stamped happy birthday sentiment (both also from Simon Says Stamp).

I saw a card by Seeka at SkyPaperScissors a little while ago and decided I needed to CASE it (you can check out her card HERE.)

Pink ombre birthday

I love how versatile background stamps are - they would have to be my favourite type of stamp.

I used the doodle garden background stamp from Catherine Pooler, with ink blending of Distress Oxide inks over the top.  The birthday die is from Mama Elephant, the happy stamp is form Altenew, and the clear droplets are from Studio Katia.

Winter Holidays at A Blog Named Hero

Have you joined in with the December challenge at A Blog Named Hero? Here's my take:

I started with a deep pool coloured notecard from Hero Arts, and I added Hero Arts Shadow Inks in Soft Pool and Pool to give it an ombre look. I stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts "Joy to the world" and white embossed it, I stamped a snowflake from "Decorate your holidays" and emmbossed with Judikins Iridescent sparkle embossing powder, then I stamped a small snowflake from "Holiday Sayings" in Soft Pool and Pool inks. I then splattered some Perfect Pearls mixed with water over the whole card.
I then added three of the Bliss snowflakes from Simon Says Stamp, die cut from Stampin' Up glimmer paper.

CAS-ual Fridays: CFC 175

Welcome to a new challenge at CAS-ual Fridays!

 I always need reminding to use my patterned papers - I have a much larger stash than I need (don't we all?) and I seem to reach for stamps and inks heaps more than I do patterned paper.

I had this piece of pink ombre paper from a Gossamer Blue kit from a couple of years ago, so I thought I'd add a sentiment from Sassy Smiles. I tried to mimic the ombre on the paper a little bit with the sentiment, by stamping it with a combination of Soft Cantaloupe and Raspberry Jam Shadow Inks from Hero Arts, then stamping over again with Versamark and clear embossing. I added this piece to a white card front, and put a couple of thin strips of red foil cardstock to define the edges.

Happy birthday, Claudine

Today is my sister-in-law's birthday. My niece told me that her favourite colours are purple and royal blue, so I made this card for her.

I used the "You're so" set from Reverse Confetti to stamp the sentiment in Versamark, then heat emboss with some silver embossing powder. I then masked off the sentiment, and added the Tim Holtz / Stamper's Anonymous "Lace" stencil, and blended some Worn Lipstick, Shaded Lilac and Blueprint Sketch Distress Inks over the top.

 I faded the ink off underneath the sentiment to match the sketch from CAS Colours and Sketches challenge.

Ombre happy birthday

I wanted to make a card other than a Christmas card (shock horror!) as people don't stop having birthdays just because Christmas is coming!

I used my favourite background stamp from Hero Arts/Basic Grey, "Flower dot pattern". I teamed it up with a word die from Mama Elephant, and the word "wishes" is from "Woodland wonders" from Avery Elle. 
I actually CASEd myself for this card - I made a baby boy card using the same technique back in February last year for A Blog Named Hero - you can check that card out HERE. I used Distress Ink in Salty Ocean on that card, but on this one, I used the Glacier Caves set of blue inks from Altenew.

Challenge me a Christmas Card 6

Welcome back to another Challenge me a Christmas Card post! The card today was made when my crafty friend and Stampin' Up superstar, Sue Madex, challenged me to use non-Christmas product.  I thought this stencil called Mini Doodle Bloom from The Crafters Workshop looked kind of poinsettia-esque, so I decided to use it.  Then my teammate on the A Blog Named Hero Facebook team, Cindy Chiu, challenged me to use orange.  Now, orange is great in a rainbow (all colours are great in a rainbow!! LOL!), but it is not my favourite colour. So I decided to use orange in an ombre from red to yellow.

I used Squeezed Lemonade, Dried Marigold and Abandoned Coral distress inks over the stencil, which I affixed over the card to match this week's challenge at CAS(e) this Sketch.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp. 

I'll be sharing this card at CAS(e) this sketch #198, and at Addicted to CAS for their Ombre challenge.

I'll also be sharing this card at The Flower Challenge - their theme is "A Special Occassion". 

I had shared this card at Less is More, but I was told that it didn't qualify as a one layer card. Oh, well.
