Challenge me a Christmas Card 12

Welcome back to my series, "Challenge me a Christmas card"!  I asked my friends, family, workmates, choirmates (anyone really) to set me a challenge for a Christmas card. It could be a colour, a theme, a subject, a technique, anything!

 My choir mate, Denise, challenged me to use buttons on a Christmas card - done!

I will be sharing this project at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - the theme is Christmas to die for (ie use die cuts)

I'll also be sharing this card at Time Out challenge, where the theme is Christmas with an optional
twist of glitter or shimmer.

Fusion #2

Hi, all - there's a new challenge out at  Fusion card challenge today - check it out!

This is what I did, based on the photo inspiration:

I hope you can see in the photo, but I used a PTI woodgrain impression plate for the background. I then inked with Antique Linen Distress ink.  The sentiment and banner are both from Simon Says Stamp.  Two of the flowers are from Creative Memories, and the musical flower was made from sheet music and given to me by my dear friend, Stella - thanks, Stel!! The black buttons are Basic Grey.

Buttons!

For the last few months, I've been filling in for a couple of design team members at A Blog Named Hero while they took breaks - and I've been having a ball!  Well, I can now tell you that Linda and Mary Dawn have asked me to be a permanent Design Team member!  (I wonder if you could hear my excited woot-woots when they asked me!!) So, here's my first post as an OFFICIAL ABNH DT member!! Woo hoo!!!

The challenge at A Blog Named Hero today is BUTTONS!  I love buttons, but I have a tendency to hoard them instead of using them (who else does this? I know you're out there, fellow button hoarders!)

Anyway, I wanted to go with a really simple card design - kind of innocent and child-like.  This is what I came up with:

Kraft, twine, buttons and CAS

I've been wanting to play along with CAS of Sunday's challenge "Krafty Twinery" all week, but I only managed to get around to it tonight.  I also saw CASual Friday's new challenge, "Buttons", and decided to combine the two.

 I just love these vintage style buttons from Stampin' Up - I'll have to get more of those!  Are you a button-hoarder like me?

Summer Card camp - week 2, day 1, card 2!

Here's the 2nd card I made last night for Summer Card Camp - using both the colour scheme of the week, and sketch 2. I didn't like this colour scheme when I first saw it, but after making 2 cards with it, it's grown on me ;)

A Blog Named Hero is doing a collaboration with Hero Arts this month - I was so excited to use some beautiful May Arts ribbon, but it was very hard to choose which one to use!  But, in the end, I couldn't go past this glittery fabulousness!

When I saw this week's Tuesday Trigger photo at Moxie Fab World, Friendly Flowers, I knew EXACTLY which stamp set I would be using - Stiches and Swirls from Papertrey Ink. I combined it with some Basic Grey buttons, and a sentiment and inks from Stampin' Up.

Buttons and Bows

A friend (who I am meeting for lunch) asked me this morning for a baby card (sex unspecified).  Not much time before I have to leave for lunch, so thought of this week's Paper Players challenge - Clean and Simple featuring Buttons and Bows for Baby. I reached for Lawn Fawn's "bright side" paper pad, and a sentiment from Stampin' Up.  I really wanted to use some plain white bakers twine for the bows, but I don't have any!! How is that possible?!?!?!

Thanks with lots of buttons

Hmm - three challenges - one Clean and Simple (CASual Fridays "thankyou" challenge). One to use 10 different embellishments on the same card (Moxie Fab world).  One to use something new (Simon Says Stamp "New Something" - my new thing was the birdie patterned paper from Stampin' Up - I fussy cut the birdies out).  How to put them together?   Well, this is what I came up with:

Glittery snowflake goodness

I'm just loving my new Stampin' Up snowflake die - that and SU's glimmer paper seem to be made for each other!  Add a bit of blue (Distress Salty Ocean), buttons and a Papertrey Ink sentiment, and here's my contribution to this week's CASual Fridays challenge - Winter Blues.

Distress Snowflake

I recently bought a snowflake die from Stampin' Up - I used it in a class by Sue Madex and loved it, so I had to have it!
I made a card using the die to cut out some acetate (haven't posted that one yet), so I had the negative space left over, so decided to use it as a mask, like Jennifer McGuire did in the Online Card Class "Holiday Card Workshop" today.  I also wanted to use some distress inks (Tumbled Glass and Peacock Feathers) and Perfect Pearls, which were used by both Jennifer and Shari Carroll today.  I sprayed on the perfect pearls, but with a light hand because I didn't want the snowflake image to bleed. I decided there wasn't nearly enough shine, so I added the smaller, glittery die cut snowflake and the button. 

Inspiration from Jennifer McGuire

I made a card today after watching Jennifer McGuire's video at Simon Says Stamp (you can see it HERE).  One of her cards had a stamped strip of acetate across the bottom edge, so I used that idea as a starting point.  I also wanted to challenge myself to use up some scraps of patterned papers - these three papers are from 3 different companies, but they went well with the fabric flower that has been sitting in my stash for FAR too long, so putting them all together, I came up with this:

Tag, you're it!

I don't usually do tags.  I make gift tags at Christmas time, but I don't usually put them on cards.  But today is an exception, as this week's challenge at A Blog Named Hero is called "Tag, you're it!"

I'm also participating in the Online Card Class "Kickstart", and my background in this card was inspired by Kristina Werner's day 1 card in class - I went with the same technique, similar colours (a bit brighter than hers), but a different layout - it ended up looking a bit shabby chic, I think, especially with the lace.
