Texture for A Blog Named Hero

The newest challenge at A Blog Named Hero is "Texture". My favourite way to add texture is to use Paper Glaze from Picket Fence Studios, so I went with an ombre look.

I used the Glorious Petal Stencil from Hero Arts, along with the Big Hugs Stamp & Cut set.

CAS for A Blog Named Hero

The September challenge theme at A Blog Named Hero is CAS - I love the clean, white space of a CAS card, and I kept this one super simple by making in a one-layer card.

I used the "You shine" set from Hero Arts with some masking, some ink blending, Copic colouring and some Paper Glitz from Picket Fence Studios to add some sparkle and shine to the moon.

You Shine for A Blog Named Hero

The August challenge at A  Blog Named Hero was "create a background". September's challenge will be beginning tomorrow. I have created this card so it fits BOTH challenges. I wonder if you can figure out from looking at my card what the September challenge theme will be?

I stamped the moon, clouds, sentiment and lots of stars onto a panel of blue cardstock. I aded some ink blending on the top and bottom edge to darken it up, then added some white pigment ink and yellow and pink Distress Oxide ink to the clouds and stars and moon. I added some liquid sparkle to the stars, and then added more shine by spattering some Paper Glitz Sparkle over the whole panel. I adhered it to a top folding white card base, and added two strips of glitter paper above and below the panel.

Remember that the challenges at A Blog Named Hero are now held via Instagram, so please check us out there!

Masculine birthday for A Blog Named Hero

Hello! The July challenge at A Blog Named Hero is "repetition". I decided that take an alcohol ink background I wasn't entirely happy with and cut it up to create a repeating background!

Monochrome for A Blog Named Hero

When I made this card, I had absolutely no ideas. I was on a Zoom call with some crafty friends in the USA, so I got them to choose some random numbers. I used one to choose the background stamp, one to choose the stamp and cut set, and one to choose the colour I used. This is what I came up with:

And, of course, because I cut the panel down, I got two cards for the price of one! YAY!

Monochrome for A Blog Named Hero

Hello! This month's challenge at A Blog Named Hero is "Monochrome", and this is what I came up with.

I used the Script bold prints stamp over the whole card, and then stamped the Togetherness Flower Bouquet over the top. I coloured it with a mixture of Red Violet, Red and Warm Grey Copic markers, before adding a white embossed sentiment from the same stamp set.

I used inks from Catherine Pooler, with a Hero Arts/Gina K collaboration stamp set, and a sentiment from "You Shine".

One layer card for A Blog Named Hero

This month's challenge theme at A Blog Named Hero was Anniversary. The challenge ends on the 28th (get in quick!) so if you're reading this, chances are the challenge has ended, but don't let that stop you making cards! I made this one which I suppose could work for an anniversary card (that's what I love about "hello" cards - they're multipurpose!)

Hello sweet friend for A Blog Named Hero

Back in February, I saw part of a Facebook Live with Gina K. she made a couple of cards with uncoloured, gold embossed floral images and copic markers to colour the background. She added texture to the background, but she mentioned that someone might like to try making a gradient with Copic markers. So I  have!

I used the Gina K/Hero Arts collab set "Friendship Blooms", with gold embossing and a variety of blue copic markers.

Caseing a card at A Blog Named Hero

The new challenge at A Blog Named Hero is to Case a favourite card of the year. I chose to Case a card by one of the design team at Hero Arts, Michelle Short. You can find the card I Cased HERE.

I only used three colours of Distress Oxide inks to create this rainbow, and I added some sprays of Perfect Pearls to give some texture and shine.
