CAS-ual Fridays: CFC215

Welcome to a new challenge at CAS-ual Fridays!
There is some sad news that comes along with today's challenge - this will be the last challenge at CAS-ual Fridays Challenge (*sniff!*) While this makes me very sad, Michele Gross has softened the blow with an extra special coupon code giving you 20% off your order up until January 1st. Check out THIS POST to find the coupon code, and also check out the design teams last creations.

I used dies only on this card - I inked up the Merry Christmas Fri-Dies with red ink and used my die cutting machine to emboss the die into the paper rather than cutting, in a faux letterpress technique. I then did the same with the Flurry Fri- Dies but without the ink. I then coloured all the images with my Wink of Stella brush, adhered it all to a red card base (with Wink of Stella around the edge) and added some sequins as a finishing touch.

Make sure you check out the CAS-ual Fridays challenge blog for more inspiration from the Girl Fridays, and join in on our challenge!

Faux Letterpress with dies

In today's Online Card Class (Last day! *sniff*), Jennifer McGuire used a technique that I've seen a few people do now (including Linda Trace HERE) - use a die as a stamp.  Jennifer took it further by also embossing with the die, to create a faux letterpress effect.  I don't have a heap of Christmassy dies, so this die has been getting quite a workout lately!
This technique worked really well with this Memory Box Swirl Ornament die - I used Hero Arts Raspberry Jam mid tone shadow ink.  I used 2 rubber mats from Papertrey Ink to allow the die to emboss rather than cut the watercolour paper as it went through my Big Shot. The card base is stamped with the "Vines" stamp from Cover A Card, in the same HA Raspberry Jam ink.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts "Very Merry Christmas" stamped in my new favourite black ink, Hero Hues Black.

I'll be submitting this card to Festive Friday's last challenge of the year - why, oh why have I only discovered this challenge blog this week?!?!? Oh well. I'll be all prepared NEXT year!!! LOL!
