Online Card class - day 3

Doing some Online Card Class homework - I need a LOT MORE PRACTICE!  (seriously, I debated myself for ages on whether to post this one or not.)

I will be sharing this card at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - the theme is Anything Goes.

Online Card Class - Day 2, card 2

Here's my 2nd card for the latest Online Card Class:
I painted these cornflowers after seeing Yana Smakula's video in today's class. I just love her cardmaking style. She is seriously fabulous! Just sayin' :)

Online Card Class - Day 2, card 1

I didn't get a chance to do any homework for Day 1 of the latest Online Card Class, "Watercolor for Cardmakers: Intermediate Techniques", but I've made two cards for day 2. Here's my first card:
I did watercolouring over a white embossed pattern (from Hero Arts), like Laura Bassen did in class. But instead of the circle pattern of watercolour that Laura did, I created an ombre colour scheme, like Kristina Werner did in class.

Love you hearts

Combining two challenges today - a sketch and a theme.

I will be sharing this card at CAS(e) this sketch #156, and at Addicted to CAS, Codeword: Red.

Masking and a stencil

Hello, crafty friends!  I have a thank you card for you today that is very pink!
I used my Misti to stamp the sentiment in Hero Arts Ultra Pink shadow ink, and then stamped over it in Versamark and clear embossed twice (almost impossible to do without the MISTI!)  I then cut a heart shaped mask using a die from Serendipity Stamps, and masked the sentiment before adding ink (both Ultra Pink and Soft Pink) over the Glorious Petals stencil from Hero Arts.

Would you class this as a one-layer card?  I don't know - all the stenciling, masking and stamping was done on one layer, but then I mounted that onto a card base and left a small border on either side that I inked with the Ultra Pink ink.  So technically not one layer, but all of the decorative elements are one layer.

Fusion - Woodgrain Neutral

Welcome to another Fusion challenge!
I made a fusion by using a woodgrain pattern stamp from Stampin' Up with some Walnut Stain Distress Ink, which I then smudged to spread a little of the colour. I then stamped the sentiment and dragonflies, both from Hero Arts Made with Love set, using Versafine vintage sepia ink.  I finished by using a stitched circle die from Lil' Inkers, but embossed the card with it to mimic the circle in the sketch.
Make sure you visit the Fusion challenge blog to check out the rest of the design team's creations.

Hero Arts Flickr Scramble!

I saw a Facebook post by Lisa Haines this morning, saying that a Hero Arts Flickr Scramble was on! These are usually on at times that I can't join in (middle of the night kind of thing), but I saw this one at 8:00 am, and it still had 30 minutes remaining, so I got cracking!
The first option for the scramble was
Option A:
2 - Use TWO colours (Neutrals are allowed in addition to the two colours)
0 - NO diecutting
1 - Use ONE image - (Background, stenciled image, a stamped image, etc)
6 - Use SIX embellishments (buttons, sequins, gems, etc.)

This is what I came up with:

Unfortunately, I went to upload my photo to Flickr, and Flickr just refused to load on my computer, so I missed out on the cut off time!  :(

Fusion - happy anniversary!

Welcome back to the FUSION challenge!

We have a special post today - it is our anniversary!
I used the Pretty Peonies stamp set from Wplus9, along with a sentiment from Strictly Sentiments 5.
It is an extra special FUSION challenge today - each member of the Design Team has invited a special guest. My guest is my friend and AMAZING cardmaker, Kelly Latevola!  You seriously need to visit the Fusion blog to check out her amazing card, and all of the yummy inspiration there!

Elephant aloft!

I made this card today for my sister-in-law's birthday (which is next week).  I wanted to play along with the My Favorite Things sketch challenge, because I got this sweet elephant stamp set in the mail this week, and was itching to get it inky!
I followed the sketch by incorporating the horizontal bands in the sketch as my rows of clouds in the background of my card.
I'm also sharing his card at the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - the theme is "New", and this "Adorable Elephants" stamp set is new to me!
I'll also be sharing this card at Time Out challenge - their theme is "Birthdays with the optional Technique Twist of adding sponging."

Stenciling over foiling

Last year, I received a kindness package from the one and only Jennifer McGuire.  I still can't get over the excitement of it all!
Today, I took one of her foiled notecards (it was blank except for the foiled sentiment), and I added some colour using Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar Distress Inks, over the Swirl Stencil from Hero Arts. I then added some sequins from my stash, and I was done!
You can find info about Jennifer's "Share Handmade Kindness" movement HERE, and you can download this sentiment (which was designed by Kristina Werner) HERE - and it's totally free!

Foiling is SO DIFFICULT to photograph!  Suffice to say, the shine is AMAZING!
