Welcome to "Challenge me a Christmas Card" for 2018!
My guest today is Jennifer McGuire,
and she has challenged me to make a card using stamping on vellum. You can check out her take on this challenge HERE.
Here's the first card I came up with:
This card is made of vellum - I stamped and gold embossed the very old stamp from Stampendous onto the vellum card front, and coloured the back of the vellum with Copic markers. I then added pieces of white cardstock behind the image, and inside the card (to write on) and on the back (to hide the adhesive, and to stamp my Handmade by Michelle stamp).
For the next card, I also gold embossed an image from Wplus9 onto vellum, but I added the bold colour to a piece of white cardstock that I adhered behind the vellum, so there is no colouring medium on the actual vellum - just the embossing.
The sentiment is a die from CAS-ual Fridays cut from gold mirror cardstock, and a little stamp from Simon Says Stamp.
When I finished this post and wrote it up, I realised that both of my cards used embossing on vellum, but neither of them had just straight stamping on vellum. So I pulled out some layering stamps from Hero Arts and got inky. I actually CASEd a card posted last month by Jennifer for this one - you can check it out HERE.
I used the color layering holly stamps from Hero Arts with shadow inks from Hero Arts stamped onto a vellum card. I then stamped and white embossed the Merry Christmas stamp from Simon Says Stamp. I thought about cutting this down to attach to a card front, but I decided to use the whole card, and attached it to a kraft card with some red and white twine from Doodlebug Design.
I just couldn't help myself - I decided to make a card with stamping and embossing on vellum with no colouring at all!
I repeatedly stamped and embossed the holly leaves and berries from DeNami Designs onto a vellum card base. I then stamped and embossed the poinsettia from Simon Says Stamp twice onto vellum, and cut both of them out (one of them, I cut some of the petals off). I then layered and adhered them over a thin strip of glitter cardstock from Stampin' Up, and added a die cut "joy" from Birch Press, also cut from glitter cardstock. I finished with the "to the world" tiny sentiment from Simon Says Stamp, stamped in Antigua ink from Hero Arts. To give the overall colour, I adhered some pool coloured cardstock behind the front of the card (I also added some to the back of the card, and a piece of white cardstock to write my message inside).

Challenge me a Christmas Card 1
Welcome to part one of my series, Challenge me a Christmas Card. A few weeks ago, I asked my friends on Facebook to set me a challenge - a specific challenge to make a Christmas card with a specific theme, or technique, or product to use.
So, today, I'm starting off with the challenge set by my friend Alice - to use embroidery thread on a Christmas card.
I started by drawing a triangle on some kraft cardstock, then piercing holes along the perimeter before erasing my pencil lines. I then coloured some white bakers twine with some green Copics (I didn't have any green embroidery thread!) and joined up the pierced holes with a random pattern. I then stamped the sentiment from Hero Arts, and added a die cut star, cut from some shiny gold cardstock. I decided I needed some detail around the edges, so I used a couple of stitched rectangles dies from Lil' Inkers to cut down the kraft panel and a piece of metallic ivory coloured cardstock. I assembled the layers using some fun foam behind the kraft panel, and then added a bunch of gold pearls from Kaiserkraft.
I will have more "Challenge me a Christmas Card" posts throughout November, so stay tuned!
I'll be sharing this card at Hero Arts for their Holiday Challenge

You're my cup of tea
We interrupt our normal programming (please drop in and see my other posts this week celebrating my 1000th blog post - there are giveaways and everything! Click HERE and then scroll down) to bring you a cute little card to play along with a few challenges.
I used the Avery Elle set, "Tea Time", plus the "Ring Cluster" stencil from Simon Says Stamp. Some Distress Ink sponging, some Copic Colouring, a doily and some enamel dots, and a little bow of twine on the left as a finishing touch. I'll be sharing this at CAS(E) this sketch #135, Virginia's View "All things embellished", and at Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday challenge "tie it up".

CAS-ual Fridays challenge 138
Welcome back to another challenge for CAS-ual Fridays.
You must use kraft, flowers, and some twine. Here's what I did.
For those of you that know me, no I am not ill but, yes, I did use the colour orange (and it's not in a rainbow!) It's nice to break out of your comfort zone once in a while! LOL!
I used Casual elegance for the flower stalks and the sentiment, Wonderful Words for the flowers, and Christmas Carols for the line and dot border, all stamped in Versamark, and white embossed with Hero Arts embossing powder. The bakers twine is from Darice.
Looking forward to seeing your krafty floral creations over at CAS-ual Fridays!

Easy Peasy Christmas tags
I always find that December creeps oup on me, and then when it arrives, I have NO TIME!! I managed to get all my Christmas cards made and written out in November (yay me!), but I always forget to make Christmas tags until I come to wrap the presents! (one year, I put post-it notes on the presents until I had time to make tags!) This year is no different - so I pulled out my PTI tag die, a bunch of scrap patterned paper, and a couple of punches and got busy.
I kept them very simple, because I had a few of them to make, and very little time. In a perfect world, I think I would have added some Distress Ink blending to the edge of the tag and the edge of the stocking, and I would add flocking to the top of the stocking, and I would add some Stickles (or maybe Glossy Accents) to the holly, and and and and - I had limited time, so none of those things happened!
Thanks for visiting - have a lovely day :)

Guest Designer at KIS!
Today, I made a card for the latest challenge at Keep it Simple! The challenge was to use sticky notes on a card. I had some Post-It notes hanging around in a few different colours, so I got them out and started creating!
The little starburst and hearts stamps on the flags are from the Hero Arts set, "Sending Smiles Messages", and the sentiment is from the CAS-ual Fridays set, "Shenanigans".
Thank you to Christine at Keep it Simple (and also of Kartenchaos) for the opportunity to be a guest designer at kis! It was great fun!!
