I was recently asked by a friend to make a card for a baby called Sebastian. My friend wanted an image of a crab (Sebastian, get it?), but the closest I could get to the theme she wanted was a mermaid.

Thanks for visiting :)
NB the baby word die I used is discontinued - it was made by Papertrey Ink.

Today, I'm sharing a shaker card for Paper Rose Studio.
I started by blending a rainbow of Distress Oxide inks on a panel of white cardstock. I cut the cloud coverplate die from white cardstock six times. I cut the rainbow panel to the same size as the coverplate pieces.
I adhered five of the cloud panels on top of the rainbow panel and let the glue dry. I adhered the last cloud panel to a piece of acetate. I took the baby and hearts shaker mix and I separated out the colours (yes, I did this by hand, yes, I'm crazy!) before adding the pieces to the clouds to match the colour of the ink blending. I then adhered the last piece with the acetate over the top, and adhered the entire shaker panel to a top folding card base.
I cut the Congratulations small die set from grey cardstock and from vellum, and adhered them over the top of the shaker panel.
Today, I'm sharing a card I made for the "Somewhere over the Rainbow" Stay Crafty with A Blog Named Hero challenge.
I made a shaker card using the Bee Florals Window Fancy Die from Hero Arts, with the matching layering stencils, and a sentiment from the Friendly Messages bundle.
The January My Monthly Hero kit is available today, and we're celebrating with a blog hop! Make sure you scroll down for information on how to win below!
For this card, I used the L O V E dies in the kit to create a mini-shaker, and I added the hearts confetti from the kit inside the shaker.
Hero Arts will give away a $50 gift card, drawn from the comments left across the hop. Enter by Sunday, January 15th at 11:59pm Pacific, and the winner will be announced on the Hero Arts blog the following week.

There's a new Stay Crafty with A Blog Named Hero challenge beginning today! We want to see shaker cards - any kind at all. You could make a full-front shaker like my card, or a smaller shaker window. You could use sequins like I have, or confetti, clay shaker elements, gems, whatever you like!
The sell-out of the November Hero Arts kit was a false alarm! Phew! If you thought you'd missed out, get in quick!
I'm sharing some more inspiration using the kit - I made a double sided
shaker bauble for my Christmas Tree - the two sides represent night and
day.
Today, I'm sharing a rainbow shaker card using products from Paper Rose Studio.
I cut the Heart Confetti Circle die from some white cardstock, and cut the panel down so that there would be a border around the panel on the card base. I masked the edges of my card base before using blending brushes to create a rainbow of Distress Oxide inks on my card base. I removed the masks, added some clear sequins, and then adhered the die cut panel using foam adhesive. I finished with a sentiment from Hello Happy Birthday, stamped onto a banner from the Triple Banner die, and adhered with foam adhesive.
It's release day at Picket Fence Studios! There is a very wide variety of products in the March release, and I've used stamps, stencils and a die from the release in the cards I'm sharing today.
And I made a video of this card!
I made this video in a live video for Picket Fence Studios earlier this week. (You can watch the replay HERE)
I have a post up on the Picket Fence Studios blog today - here's a sneak peek:
Welcome to Case me a Christmas Card for 2021 - a Christmas Card blog series!
From October to December, I will link to a series of guest cardmakers on my blog. I will CASE one of their cards, and they will CASE one of mine! CASE stands for either Copy And Share Everything, or Copy And Selectively Edit. It's about getting inspiration from cardmaking friends, but making a new card that is our own. And, of course, the card we each make has to be a Christmas card!
Background
In November 2016, I started this a little series on my blog. It started with me wanting to challenge myself to step outside my comfort zone with my Christmas cardmaking, so I asked friends to challenge me to do something different. 2016 challenges included using embroidery thread on a card, making a food themed card, making a geeky Christmas card (it had the Tardis on it) and making a dinosaur themed card.
In 2017,
I asked some of my cardmaking friends to join me with these challenges.
Then, in 2020, I changed things up a bit by asking each of my guests to
CASE one of my cards and I would CASE one of theirs. Ardyth Percy Robb made a video in 2020 (linked here)
of a 5 step process that I use all the time when I am making a CASE of
anybody's card, so I encourage you to check out her video!
Today's guest
Today, my guest is Jessica Frost Ballas. I have CASEd one of her cards that you can check out HERE.
All of the products I used are linked below :)
And I made a video!
This is the card I Cased:
