With deepest sympathy

Sympathy cards - we always need them, but never like making them. I like to keep mine simple if I can - monochrome, with white space. I masked the edges to keep it one-layer, then used stamps from Concord & 9th and a stencil from Altenew, with Distress oxide ink and some white embossing.

With Sympathy

I always like to have some sympathy cards in my stash, because they're not the kind of card I want to make when I need one. I used a similar layout to a card I made almost 6 years ago (you can see it HERE) which was a CASE of one I saw on Instagram by Jennie Lundin) . For this card, I made it in portrait instead of landscape, and I used stamps from Concord & 9th, and from Avery Elle and Taylored Expressions (two of which are now discontinued).

Today, I'm playing along with the challenge at CAS on Friday challenge #332, where the theme is Sympathy.

You're my cup of tea for Altenew AECP - Seasonal Scene Building

Compensated affiliate links may be used - these are at no extra cost to you. I appreciate your support!

Today, I'm sharing a masked card I made following the Seasonal Scene Building Class as part of the Altenew AECP.
The class, taught by Nichol Spohr, included cards using masking to create scenes. I used eight stamps to create this little teacup with a bunch of flowers. I stamped the rose first, then stamped it onto masking paper so I could mask off the image before continuing. Next came the smaller flowers, then the leaves, then the teacup, the handle and the saucer. Removing the masks is so satisfying!

I coloured the image with copic markers, and added some grey shadow around the image, and underneath so that the cup looks like it is sitting on a surface rather than floating in space! I finished with a stamped sentiment.

AECP - Clean and Simple Boutique cards

Compensated affiliate links may be used - these are at no extra cost to you. I appreciate your support!

I created this card after completing the Clean and Simple Boutique Cards class as part of the Altenew Educator Certification Program. Using a discontinued stamp set from Altenew, I inked up the watercolour leaf stamp in a rainbow of dye inks, blending between the colours with ink blending brushes. I added some doodled details to the leaves (turning some of them into flowers) and added a sentiment. At that point, the card, did not look finished, so I added some sketched and dotted lines in two corners, and then I was done!

Hero Arts new release blog hop!

There's a new release at Hero Arts, and members of the Creative Team are hopping to celebrate! I'm sharing two cards today, both of which are floral to celebrate spring!

For my first card, I used my favourite product from this release - a layering stencil set that creates these gorgeous daffodils! We have some daffodils in our garden, and they always make me smile when they're in bloom!

For my 2nd card, I used products in the February Hero Studio card kit. I usually struggle with layering stamps, but these ones were very easy to line up!

Hero Arts will give away a $50 gift card, drawn from the comments left across the hop. Enter by Saturday, February 8 at 11:59pm PST, and the winner will be announced on the Hero Arts blog the following week. Leave a comment on all stops for more chances to win!

Pet sympathy card

Compensated affiliate links may be used - these are at no extra cost to you. I appreciate your support!

A friend of mine recently asked me to make a card for her to give to a friend whose dog had passed over the rainbow bridge. I don't have many stamps that would fit the bill, so I improvised.

I created the paw mark mask using a heart die, and the number eight fancy die. I found a little dog silhouette stamp in the June 2023 My Monthly Hero kit (sadly, this is sold out), and the sentiment is from an old stamp set called "Remember" (which is sadly discontinued).
