Bush Babies for Paper Rose Studio

This card is not my usual style, but I've always loved May Gibb's iconic Bush Baby images, I couldn't resist this stamp sent from Paper Rose Studio!

I stamped the bush baby and floral images plus the sentiment from the Snugglepot & Cuddlepie Little Things stamp set onto watercolour cardstock, then coloured the edges of the images using watercolour pencils. I used my waterbrush to spread the colour.

I cut the panel down so I could mount it onto a kraft card front with a small border around the edges.

Happy Mother's Day

Mother's Day is tomorrow, and I left it until today to make some cards for my mum! Nothing like leaving it until the last minute!

I used the Early Tulips Bouquet stamp set from Picket Fence Studios, coloured with Faber Castell watercolour pencils and a waterbrush, The sentiment is from Clearly Besotted

Challenge me a Christmas Card 14

Welcome back to episode 14 of Challenge me a Christmas Card! Most of these challenges are to use a product, or incorporate a theme - but my friend Anne-Marie challenged me to CASE a particular card - one made by the amazing Debby Hughes of Lime Doodle Design.  You can find her card HERE, but here's my CASE.

I used a bunch of images from Lawn Fawn's "Pa-Rum-Pa-Pum-um" set, and coloured them with my Faber Castell watercolour pencils, before painting over with water to give a messy watercolour look.  I then wanted a sentiment that was red (like Debby's), but I wanted something a bit different, so I die-cut the PTI Merry in Stampin' Up glimmer paper and then stamped the matching "& bright" onto vellum, before adhering it all onto a top folding white card base.

I will be sharing this project at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - the theme is Christmas to die for (ie use die cuts)

I'll also be sharing this card at Time Out challenge, where the theme is Christmas with an optional twist of glitter or shimmer.
Thanks for visiting - there'll be more Challenge me a Christmas Card posts coming - stay tuned!!

My first ever card making video!

Yesterday, I spent the day with my sister and my two eldest nieces, both of whom love cardmaking.  I made a card similar to the one I'm sharing here today, but I decided to make a new version this morning using watercolour paper.

My nieces also love to make videos using iMovie.  So, I got niece number 1 to give me a lesson in how to use iMovie - this is the result!

PS in the video, I said that I was using a different brand of watercolour paper.  I usually use Canson 300gsm, but this one is Eraldo di Paolo 300gsm.

PPS If any of my workmates (or any closet botanists) decide to watch this video: Yes, I know it's a poinsettia, therefore they are not petals.  They are bracts.

PPPS please excuse the very odd way I was holding my coloured pencils whilst colouring - my thumb on my right hand is sore and swollen at the moment.

From all of us!

The new Online Card Class, Maskerade, began today - and coincidentally, a friend of mine from work is having a birthday later this week, so it seemed the perfect time to make a group card.  Especially because this awesome stamp set from Hero Arts (called "Playful Animal") arrived in the mail today!  Perfect timing!
