I've been so busy this weekend - mostly work, but also three family birthdays, and a heap of other birthdays around this week as well. I did manage to sneak in a teeny bit of crafty time (I have to keep myself sane, right?!)
I masked these Hero Arts Color Layering Butterflies by stamping the two biggest butterflies in the set with Versamark, and embossing with Hero Arts clear embossing powder. I heated them to melt the powder, then I added a wash of water to the watercolour paper I stamped on, and added a happy rainbow with my Kuretake Gansai Tambi watercolours.
I mounted the watercolour panel onto a card front, with a strip of black cardstock (it just needed it). I then stamped the "birthday" and added the "happy" diecut from Winnie and Walter . Yes, I know, you can tell from the photos that the Glossy Accents on the "happy" die cut is not dry yet. What can I say, I'm impatient when it comes to photographing and blogging about cards!

CAS-ual Fridays Challenge 140
There's a new CASual Fridays challenge on, and it's
Michele's idea of summer includes having a tan, wearing white, and bright colours, so this challenge is to use tan, white and one bright colour. I chose red.
I used 3 stamps from the CASual Fridays set, "Shenanigans" and the smallest stamp from "Christmas Carols". I used Real Red ink from Stampin' Up, some red and white bakers twine from Darice, and three little dots of Diamond Stickles.

Homework for the latest Online Card Class
I don't think I need to tell anyone, but Laura Bassen's cards are the bomb. She did this technique in class with a homemade stencil, and a rainbow of colours, and it was just awesome, so I had to have a go.

Happy birthday, Dad!
I made this card for my Dad - it's his birthday today :)
The paper is all from an older Basic Grey paper pad called "Hipster". The sentiment is from a set from Simon Says Stamp called "Birthday Balloons".

From all of us!
The new Online Card Class, Maskerade, began today - and coincidentally, a friend of mine from work is having a birthday later this week, so it seemed the perfect time to make a group card. Especially because this awesome stamp set from Hero Arts (called "Playful Animal") arrived in the mail today! Perfect timing!

Fusion - Wedding Belles
Time for another Fusion challenge. This time, I made a fusion of sketch and photo.
This is a one layer card - I masked to create the top ribbon, stamped the flowers, and then coloured with Copics. I then masked again to create the bottom ribbon, and after colouring again, I then added shadows to try to make them look three-dimensional, even though this is a one layer card. The sentiment from Hero Arts was the final touch.
Make sure you drop over to the Fusion blog to check out all the cards from the rest of the design team, and join in with this challenge!

A NEW challenge at A Blog Named Hero
I recently got some new Hero Arts stamps, stencils and dies from their Spring Catalogue, so I thought they would be perfect for our latest challenge at A Blog Named Hero - the theme is NEW!
I used the Triangle Patterned Stencil with some Distress Ink for the background, then stamped the sentiment from "Stamp Your Own Salad". I then stamped the carrot and tomato onto some white cardstock, and fussy cut them before popping them up on some dimensional adhesive.
I sent this card to my friend Linda, who is one of our fearless leaders here at A Blog Named Hero! I wanted to make her laugh, so I decided to add some smiley faces to the tomato and carrot using smileys from two Lawn Fawn sets, "Partly Cloudy" and "Plus One".

Pinks and Blues with Simon Says Stamp and Hero Arts
Playing with some Hero Arts inks and their Triangle Pattern Stencil, as well as the Birthday Balloons stamp set from Simon Says Stamp.
I was going to add some sequins, but then I decided to add some Wink of Stella shimmer to the balloons instead.
I'm also playing along with the colour scheme for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge.

Playing with embossing paste and a new stencil
I recently got a couple of stencils from Stamplorations, so I thought it was high time I got one out and had a play.
I mixed some Wendy Vecchi embossing paste with Worn Lipstick and Spiced Marmalade Distress Inks, and applied it over part of the stencil. I then added a stamped sentiment (from Hero Arts) on a white banner, and a "happy" from Simon Says Stamp, die cut from a scrap of pink cardstock.

Muse Christmas Visions
I'm sure that, if you're a cardmaker, then you quite often use cardmaking as therapy.
That was me this afternoon.
I just HAD to make a card, or I would burst in to tears of frustration, grief and anger. All bottled up.
But then I made this card. I feel so much better now!
It might be the blue (my favourite colour of all time). It might be that it's a Christmas card (my favourite time of year). It might be the bright gold on the card, or the fact that it's for a brand new challenge called Muse: Christmas Visions, with an AWESOME inspiration card by a card-maker I totally admire, Kimberly Weiner. But making this card just put a smile on my face :)
Here's the Muse card by Kimberly:
Edited: I'll also be submitting this card to Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge, which is to use a sentiment.
