Creating a background for A Blog Named Hero

Happy 2nd birthday, ABNH Blog Hop!!

Welcome to this blog hop for A Blog Named Hero's 2nd birthday!

I hope you have come from Kathy Racoosin's blog, The Daily Marker.

Our theme is 2 - 2 of something or the number 2.   I used 2 stamps (my favourite HA sentiment stamp and one of my favourite HA images), 2 types of stamp (1 clear and 1 wood mount), 2 colours (pink and purple), 2 types of cardstock (white and a pink offcut), 2 colouring media (Copics and Distress Inks), and 2 Distresss ink techniques (blending and stamping with water - can you see on the top and bottom borders, there's some colour removed - I stamped the same butterfly flowers stamp with water over the sponged ink).

Now, because the theme is 2, I had to make 2 cards, didn't I!  I used the same 2 colours of Distress Inks and the same 2 stamps, but went more CAS with some masking. (To get the mask to be on the same curve as the sentiment, I mounted the sentiment onto an acrylic block on a curve first and stamped it onto the card front, and also onto a piece of masking paper.  I then cut the masking paper right down the middle of the sentiment (into 2 pieces, haha!), following the curve of the words, and then mounted the bottom bit of mask above the sentiment and the top bit of the mask below the sentiment.)

Virginia's View: stencils

Virginia Lu has posted another challenge on her challenge blog, Virginia's View - this time, it's all about stencils!

I actually posted a card just this morning using a Hero Arts stencil, but I have another project to share that also uses a stencil - this time, it's a mini-canvas with embossing paste. Thanks to Lyndal Higgins for the canvas, the gelatos and the two different embossing pastes, and thanks to Joy Taylor for the stencil, the die and the flowers.

Craft retreat!!

I had SUCH an awesomely fun time this weekend - the amazingly talented and fun lady, Joy Taylor, organised a craft retreat for 11 Aussie ladies in the beautiful Victorian town of Bright.  I was only able to make it for 2 of the 4 days, but I managed to get some crafting done (after being COMPLETELY overwhelmed when I arrived to see SO MUCH crafty goodness in the house!)

Here's one of the cards I made, using a Hero Arts stencil with Distress Inks, and a Simon Says sentiment stamp of Joy's.
