Case me a Christmas Card Hop 4

Welcome to Case me a Christmas Card 2025 - a Christmas Card series! 

Throughout October, there will be a series of 10 hops – two YouTube hops, and eight Instagram hops. Each hop involves participants CASEing (Copy And Selectively Edit) a card from the next person, drawing inspiration while each creating a Christmas Card. And you can join in!

Background

This series began in November 2016 as a personal challenge to explore different Christmas card styles, with friends suggesting creative ideas. Over time, more cardmakers joined, leading to a format where participants CASE each other's cards. A helpful video by Ardyth Percy Robb outlines a 5-step CASE process—check it out HERE.

This year

This year is a bit different, because I'd love for you to join in! You can join in by making your own CASE, or by commenting on the stops on the hop (either on IG or on YT).

Here's my card for today - I'm CASEing Michelle Short!

This is Michelle's card that I CASEd: 

I includes a 3D embossed tag on my card (using an embossing folder from Altenew), plus some twine at the top, just as Michelle did in her project. I extended the pattern to the background of the card, matching up the pattern on the card and the tag.

Here's my card for today - I'm CASEing Essie Cards!

This is Essie's card that I CASEd: 

Elements from Essie's card that I included are a central die cut sentiment, half of the panel in metallic that matches the sentiment, and ink blending over the background.

I'm also sharing Deborah and Brayden's cards. Deborah is a cardmaker, but does not have a blog or a public IG account. Brayden is her grandson! They have both CASEd this card of mine:

Brayden says he used the gold frame, and the fireworks from my card which he turned into snowflakes! When Brayden was doing snowflakes in silver, Deborah asked why he was using silver with the gold frame, and Brayden said it's because of the song Silver and Gold from the movie Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!

Thanks ombre for Paper Rose

 Today, I'm sharing a card using dies from Paper Rose Studio. 

I began with a white card base, and I ink blended on it with Distress Oxide inks. I added some white splatter to the background. I cut the Floral Christmas Coverplate die from champagne metallic cardstock, and adhered it over the ombre background. I cut the Fancy Script Layered Thanks metal die from pink cardstock, and layered it over some vellum, before adhering it onto the die cut panel. I finished with some white enamel dots to pick up on the white spatter in the background.
