A few wintry challenges - in summer!!

It feels very odd making snowflake cards in summer!  But when else, other than at Christmas, can an Australian get away with using snowflakes on a card?

I'll be submitting this card to  CASE Study #170, CASology CueCard Snowflake Challenge,   CASual Friday Let it Snow Challenge, Addicted to CAS and Simon Says Stamp Let it Snow Challenge.  I also used the sketch from Retro Sketches for this week.

Thanks for visiting - have a great day :)

Fusion challenge is back!

I'm so glad that the ladies at Fusion Card Challenge decided to resurrect the challenge - it's such a cool concept and really stretches the creative muscles! I decided to try the fusion - use the photo inspiration as well as the card sketch.

Retro Sketches RS94

I'm playing along as a Headliner at Retro Sketches this month - this card is based on a sketch from a card by the uber-talented Laurie Willison.

Both of the stamps are from PaperTrey Ink, and the patterned papers are from KaiserCraft's "Mint Twist" collection.
Make sure you pop over to Retro Sketches to see what the design team has come up with!

Lawnscaping Winter Blog Hop!!

Hi, all,

I was supposed to be a part of Lawnscaping's fun Winter Blog Hop today. Due to a brain fade on my part, this post, which I wrote weeks ago, did not go live at the correct time, so is not part of the hop, unfortunately.  I sincerely apologise to Laurel at Lawnscaping, and particularly to Heidi H at Stamping, Knitting, Etc, and to Shannon Martel of Shannon's Creations, who were before and after me in the hop.

Please visit Lawnscaping  to find the list of hoppers.  Make sure to comment on each of the hoppers' posts as there are HEAPS of prizes to be won!!   All the details about the sponsors and prizes can be found at Lawnscaping. You have until 11:59pm US Eastern Standard Time on Sunday to leave a comment to be eligible for a prize!

Here's my wintry card:
This is a 3 layer card - there is a standard card with the trees on the front (the inside is blank), and then there is an acetate window over the top.  I just left about an inch of cardstock above the window piece, and folded it over to glue to the back of the main card.

I used the tree and a snowflake stamp from Lawn Fawn's "Peace, Love, Joy" set, and some patterned paper from the "Peace, Love, Joy" 6X6 paper pad. I also used another snowflake and the sentiment from "Ornate Ornaments".  I stamped the snowflakes in white StazOn ink onto acetate, and made this into a window with patterned paper bordering the window.  I then stamped the trees in 2 different Hero Arts shadow inks (Soft Pool and Cornflower), and 2 Stampin' Up inks (Bermuda Bay and Wild Wasabi).  I wanted the trees to look like they were on a snowy hill, so I added some Star Dust Stickles to the card front (behind the window), and some Wink of Stella glitter brush to the trees.
Some inks bleed more than others, so you can see that the stripes on some of the trees have been lost, but I quite like the variety it provides!

My sincere apologies to anyone who tried to take part in the hop earlier.

Thanks to Lyndal I thought I'd submit this card to  CASE Study #170, CASology CueCard Snowflake Challenge,   CASual Friday Let it Snow Challenge, and Simon Says Stamp Let it Snow Challenge.

 Thanks for visiting! :)

Joy

Another card I made for a magazine call that was rejected - oh well!
