Online Card Class - day 8

Today's Online Card Class has a video from Cathy Zielske showing how to make a simple shaker window with a word die, and then use the leftover letters on a second card. This is what I came up with: 

I used word dies from Hello Bluebird to cut a panel that I had coloured with Distress Oxide inks and then sprayed with Perfect Pearls in water. I used sequins from Brittney Lee. I added some faux stitching lines as a finishing touch.

For the second card, I adhered the leftover letters onto a white panel, then matted that onto a piece of navy cardstock, and then a blue cardbase (Stampin' Up Ballet Blue - years later, I am still annoyed they discontinued this colour!) I stamped a background stamp from Hero Arts (Flower Dot Pattern, my favourite stamp of all time, sadly discontinued) onto the cardbase using Ballet Blue ink from SU.

Sending a paper hug for Picket Fence Studios

I coloured these images back in early March, and popped them onto a card in mid March, but never got around to posting it on my blog or IG

I used Peach and Piper checking the post, coloured with Copic markers and cut with the coordinating dies. I added the images onto a panel of Yupo with alcohol inks, and added a sentiment strip from the same stamp set.

Online Card Class - Day 7

Laurie Willison's class in today's Online Card Class shows how to use both the positive space and the negative space of a word die on two cards. I have a few dies like the one Laurie used, but I thought I would try using one of my favourite types of word die - one that has a word and its shadow.

For my first card, I used the the Hello word die from Picket Fence - I used both dies at the same time to cut a window from the card front as well as the word. I also cut them both from Fun Foam so I could pop them up (adhering the cardstock to the fun foam for those little itty bits in the middle of the letters h, e and l was excellent fun - not!) I used the Petal Burst stencil from Funky Fossil Design and my Life Changing Blender Brushes to add a rainbow of Distress Oxide ink.

For my 2nd card, I used the Flowers Stencil along with the negative of the word die. I finished both cards with some clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

Leafy green hello for Paper Rose

Hello! Today, I'm sharing a card I made using the Leaves Stencil and the Hello clear stamps from Paper Rose Studio.

I laid the stencil over my white card base and adhered it with temporary tape from behind. I used an ink blending tool to blend green inks from the edge to the centre, concentrating the colour at the edges. I then removed the stencil and stamped the sentiment in black ink in the centre of the card. I finished with some clear sequins.

Watercolouring at A Blog Named Hero

The new challenge at A Blog Named Hero is Watercolour - I decided to go with a rainbow (obvs!).

I started by stamping the butterfly from the Butterfly Pair Stamp and Cut set in black ink onto watercolour cardstock. I then used Zig markers and a water brush too watercolour a rainbow over and around the butterfly. I added a sentiment from the same set and then added some stardust stickles to the butterfly wings.
