Online Holiday Card Class 2013 - day 1

Yippee! Another card class has begun!  I have so much fun with these classes, but this one will be tricky, because it coincides with my busiest exam marking week.  Rats.  Oh, well, I will have to make sure I do some marking before making a card each day - I marked 50 pages this morning (I have 1050 in total to do by next Monday - 200 down, 850 to go!)

Anyway, Day 1 of class included a video from Joy Taylor, using die cut words  and ombre cardstock panels.  I went with the ombre, but with Distress inks (Festive Berries and Worn Lipstick) and using the die cut word (from Papertrey Ink) as a mask - negative mask on the front, positive mask on the inside.  The "& bright" is from the matching PTI stamp set : Wonderful words - Holiday, stamped in Versafine Onyx Black.

There are snowflakes (from Lawn Fawn "Ornate Ornaments" on the left of the card - in very pale blue (Hero Arts soft pool stamped off once), white embossed and glitter. I used heat and stick powder, then loose glitter for the glittery ones - I now have glitter all over the floor!  Whoops!

On the inside, I used the positive mask and Distress inks, and the "Christmas" is from Hero Arts "Very Merry Christmas".

I'll be submitting this card to Lawnscaping Challenges "Sentiment" challenge, and CASual Fridays Embossing Challenge.

I hope to be able to join in with class a bit more in coming days, but I'd better get some more marking done right now!  I aim to get a minimum of 100 more papers done today - wish me luck!!

Thanks for visiting :)

  6. Love this card! I particularly like the way you did the inside. Would you call that "ombre inking"? I may just have to "steal" that technique!lol Tfs.
