A challenge, a sketch and a colour scheme

The challenge (from CASual Fridays) - use chevrons and sequins.  This is more of a challenge to me than it may seem - I don't like sequins. I actually seriously dislike them.  I did callisthenics as a child, so I have had MUCH MORE than my fair share of sequins for one lifetime.  However, I do have a pack of mixed sequins for my nieces to craft with (from Spotlight, I think), so I pulled them out (grudgingly) and added 2 (I couldn't bring myself to add any more!)
I also followed a sketch from Retro Sketches, and a colour scheme from ColorQ.   The chevrons are from Paper Smooches, the sentiment from Hero Arts, and the inks are Hero Arts Shadow inks.

Wooden leaves!

Yep, these leaves are made of wood veneer - I just love this stuff!  I got mine from Simon Says Stamp, and I will be getting some more, I think!

I inked the coloured panel with Barn Door, Wild Honey and Antique Linen Distress inks. The leaf dies are from Impression Obsession, and the sentiment is Hero Arts.

Ready made flower and some gold

I actually started this card months ago!! Today, a stamp set went missing, so I did a tidy-up of "The Pile" ("The Pile" (yes, it deserves capitals) is bits of cardstock and patterned paper and sometimes stamp sets and die cuts and stuff that accumulates on my desk as I'm cardmaking - stuff that I've used, stuff that was left over but I haven't organised yet, and stuff that I pulled out but didn't use).  Anyway, I've found the stamp set, but I also found the beginnings of this card.  I had die cut the white card and stuck the gold behind it, and stamped the "birthday" sentiment - but that's as far as I got.  So, today, I pulled out a ready-made flower and some leaves and completed the card - I don't know why I didn't think of doing this in the first place! LOL!

 I'll be submitting this card to two challenges at Moxie Fab World - the "All that Glitters is Gold" challenge, and the "Ready Made Embellishments" challenge.

World Cardmaking Day!!

I've set aside some time today, as it is World Cardmaking Day! Hooray!  So, in amongst marking a huge pile of Uni assignments (the pile is getting smaller, thankfully!), I've made 9 different cards today (so I'll have a few posts coming in quick succession!)  Some of the cards fit a challenge or two, some are Christmas cards, but some are just for fun. 

This card was specifically for Moxie Fab's Stickers and Tape Challenge - I made the tree from Washi tape, and the cute little owls are stickers.  I followed the sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch.

Shaped card challenge at A Blog Named Hero

Hi, all - today, I have a shaped card for you.  I very rarely do shaped cards - I don't find them particularly easy to do - but this one turned out OK, I think!

I don't have very many large dies, so I started with the hexagon dies from Lifestyle Crafts and everything else came from that.  I used some Stampin' Up Smoky Slate cardstock for the card base, and Hero Arts Butterbar shadow ink for the Hero Arts Magical Background.  The bee stamp is from a Hero Arts clear set, as is the speech bubble that perfectly fits the sentiment from CASual Fridays Stamps.
